Dr. Janet Buckenmeyer

Graduate Studies in Education
Dr. Janet Buckenmeyer has been Chair of the Master of Instructional Technology Program at Purdue University Calumet since August of 2004. She currently administers the program, teaches two graduate courses per semester, and advises and mentors students in the program.
She earned her Doctorate in 2001 from the University of Toledo in Curriculum and Instruction, majoring in Instructional Technology and minoring in Research and Measurement. She received a Master of Education degree, also from the University of Toledo, in 1998. Her Bachelor of Science degree was earned - a long time ago - at Bowling Green State University, also in Ohio, where she majored in Elementary Education and Learning and Behavior Disorders.
Janet has been a national conference presenter for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), as well as various local and regional organizations including the Indiana Computer Educators (ICE).
Prior to coming to PUC, she was the Director for the Master of Instructional Technology program at Lourdes College, Sylvania, OH. She also has experience as an elementary teacher as well as an assistant principal and special services teacher. Her research interests are assessment of distance education, implementation of instructional design and teaching effectiveness, appropriate integration of instructional technology and creating optimal learning environments using technology.
She is excited about creating a practical program that meets the needs of today's students. Her program focuses on instructional technology and design in education (K-16+) as well as the corporate and business evironments.
